Goldy Electronics

Authenticity, warranty and inspection

This page applies to all store services.

Electronics Applies to all customers Part of the store terms

The electronics market is full of devices that look identical in a photograph and are entirely different in the box: a counterfeit, a refurbished unit sold as new, or a device built for another market with no local warranty behind it. This page explains how Goldy Electronics keeps all of that away from you, and states exactly what our warranty covers and what it does not.

The serial number is a register, not a sticker

We log the serial number of every unit as it enters the warehouse and again as it leaves for you. That double entry means we can answer three questions at any moment: where this unit came from, when it was sold, and how much cover remains. It also means a device that never left our shelves cannot be presented to us in a claim under our name.

Goods-in inspection

  • Number matching across the supplier invoice, the box and the device; any mismatch stops the whole batch.
  • Factory seal integrity — a device with a broken seal is never listed as new.
  • Functional sample testing from every batch: power-on, screen stability, power and data ports, and accessory completeness.
  • Accessories especially — chargers and cables are the most counterfeited items, and we check them by weight, print quality and the voltage data marked on them.

A batch that fails goes back to the supplier in full. We never discount a device of doubtful authenticity: a discount does not cure a counterfeit, it simply transfers the harm to you.

Specification accuracy

We take specification tables from the manufacturer documentation, not from its advertising. Where a device varies by market, we say so explicitly along with the effect on warranty and software updates. We do not substitute loose phrases such as "exceptional performance" for a figure you can verify. If a published specification proves wrong we correct it at once, and if you bought on the strength of it, we treat that as a misdescription rather than a change of mind.

What the warranty covers

The warranty covers manufacturing and component defects under normal use for the period stated on the device page, running from the invoice date. Repairs we carry out ourselves carry ninety days of cover on the labour and the replaced part, unless the repair order states otherwise.

What the warranty does not cover

  1. Impact, drops and crushing, and any visible physical damage to the housing or screen.
  2. Liquid ingress and moisture, revealed by the internal liquid indicator.
  3. Power damage from a non-original charger, mains fluctuation or a surge.
  4. Software — operating system or application faults, modified firmware, or bypassing the manufacturer restrictions.
  5. Consumables — a battery is a consumable whose capacity declines with use, and that gradual decline is not a manufacturing defect.
  6. Opening or repair by an unauthorised party, removal of warranty labels, or an obscured serial number.
Save money on the original charger and you may lose the device. Most electrical failures reaching our bench were caused by a counterfeit charger or cable, and the usual result is a power board costing several times the genuine charger, outside warranty.

The team and final testing

Every device leaving our bench after a repair passes a final test that is documented on the repair order: the reported fault, the work performed, the parts replaced, and the post-repair result. You receive a copy of that record with your device. We do not claim manufacturer authorisations we do not hold. Where we are an authorised centre for a brand, we state it in its place where available; where we are not, we say so and explain the claim route through the agent.
